We are chosing the genre horror for our film opening. There are two main reasons for this, firstly because our questionnaire results showed us that horrors the most enjoyed genre by the public, and secondly because we have a really good storyline that we think has a lot of potential and will work well.
Our film is going to be based on Halloween.
We we’re inspired by the blair with project film opening, so have chosen to use a hand held camera effect.
Group of teens that are daring each other to spend the night in a cemetery on Halloween
(We all star in the film)
Cuts to image of man in dark clothing walking around the cemetery
The first shot of the man is an extreme close-up, so you’re unable to tell what it is-creating suspense for audience
As each shot of him is taken, the camera gets further away until the last shot where we realise he is outside the cemetery, just as the group agree to spend the night there.
The shots of the man will be dark and mysterious, he’ll wear black clothing to connote negative behaviour, look unordinary and have unusual features and will immediately stand out from the croud
To show the audience it’s Halloween we will use Halloween banners and pumpkins, we will also have children dressed up in Halloween costumes

Phonebooth (Genre That Doesn't Follow Typical Conventions)
Phonebooth is a thriller film that doesn't follow the typical conventions, it avoids darkness and shadows. The only way to link the film to standard conventions is the way that we hear and see the story from the killers point of view,we are made to feel sympathy for the male protagonist, and the way the story is told through the use of flashbacks and quick editing. Otherwise it's a film that avoids the main conventions.
