Genre
For our practical production we will be fitting our opening into the horror genre. We decided this after briefly looking into other genres, we found this will enable us to produce the most successful opening possible. We researched previous horror openings and this then confirmed our decision. We then looked at typical conventions used in the horror genre and found that low level lighting is often used and creates a mysterious atmosphere, we will use this information wisely. We will leave the viewer in suspense this is to keep the intrigued.
Resources And Equipment
As our opening has horror elements will we film in areas that look isolated and sinister such as forest with lots of trees, there are a number of locations we could use to film chase scenes in. Our second main location for filming will be in the dark room, this is easily accessible and the majority of props we'll be using will already be in there. Due to the type of film, the victim will wear casual feminine clothing, we want the audience to feel they can relate to her.
Techniques
The horror genre has a consistent use of close up to convey emotion and fear in the character face. We will use this in our opening but also use long shots so that not too much of the story is given away, mid shots will be used to show me walking making it obvious to the viewer that I'm being followed. This is also a good technique to use to emphasize the speed I'm running at.
